The Village of Brookfield is one of the few villages in the area to have a full-time fire department from its inception in 1893. There are two fire stations located on the North and South sides of the Burlington Northern - Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad tracks. The fire department operates Tower 419 from station# 1 and Engine 421 from station# 2 in conjunction with an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance from each fire station, ready to assist with all fire-related, EMS, or any other types of emergencies. The overall staff for the Brookfield Fire Department includes a fire chief, three captains, three lieutenants, and 18 firefighter/paramedics.
