Village Selects New Community Development Director

Village Manager Timothy Wiberg is pleased to announce that he has selected Emily Egan as the Village’s next Director of Community Development.  She will begin employment with the Village of Brookfield on October 4.

Ms. Egan has over 7 years in planning, zoning, and economic development work.  Perhaps most importantly, she previously worked in Brookfield as Village Planner from 2015 to 2018.  Most recently, she served as the Assistant City Planner for the City of Elmhurst.  In Elmhurst, she supervised their code enforcement personnel, performed various zoning and development studies, and negotiated development agreements with developers, including those being constructed in Tax Increment Financing Districts.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI, and her Master of Urban Planning and Policy degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mr. Wiberg stated that what set Ms. Egan apart from the other candidates was her obvious knowledge of the Village and its issues.  Mr. Wiberg stated, “It was clear from her interview that she has a passion for the Brookfield community and has a keen interest in maintaining the development momentum that has already begun.  She had a role in drafting many of the zoning regulations currently in place, and will now have the opportunity to implement them”

In accepting the position with the Village of Brookfield, Ms. Egan said, “I am thrilled to be in Brookfield again.  It is a wonderful community that has laid a solid foundation for success.  I am excited to work with residents and businesses to build on that momentum.”
