Village Convenes 2nd Realtor Meeting; Crain’s Reports Solid Increase in Home Sales

The Village of Brookfield on February 2 held its second annual Realtor Breakfast in collaboration with area school districts.  Area brokers heard all six K-8 and high school districts deliver remarks on the important projects and curriculum updates the schools are undertaking, while also relaying important facts about the school systems (test scores, graduation rates, school report card data, spending per pupil etc.).

An additional topic of schools speakers were STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) initiatives, one of which was featured in the RB Landmark on February 1.  Also on February 1, Crain’s Chicago Business featured a story on price appreciation in the Chicago suburbs, with Brookfield once again registering sustained growth of 5% annual sales volume in 2016, after a great year in 2015.  The median home price in Brookfield now stands at $229,000 according to Crain’s.

The realtors were well represented with approximately 25 realtors and home builders from the western suburban and Chicago area in attendance to learn more about the strong schools that serve the families in the Village. The Village provided background information (see link here) about increasing permit activity, commercial/residential investment, and Zoning Modernization ordinance that allows greater density while supporting future residential and commercial development.
