Public Hearing
A public hearing provides an official opportunity for public discussion on certain zoning petitions. The state of Illinois and the Village of Brookfield require notification prior to a public hearing. Three types of notices are required: posting a sign on the subject property, publication in a local newspaper (i.e. The Landmark), and written notice to all properties within 250 feet of the subject property.
Public Comment
Anybody can provide comments about specific agenda items at the public hearing meeting in person, or by submitting written comments. Comments can be made at the public hearing about the specific agenda item. Each meeting also has a public comment section intended for general comments and suggestions.
Commenting in Person
- Speakers will need to write their name on the sign-up sheet located near the Village Staff table. The Commission Chair will open the public comment and generally allow 3-5 minutes for each speaker. Avoid repeating comments previously heard.
Commenting in Writing
- If you have an interest in an agenda item but are unable to attend the meeting, email your comments to the Village Planner, Kendra Kuehlem kkuehlem@brookfieldil.gov, or in writing to:
