Human Resources and Risk Management Office Mission

To provide quality services and support in all areas of human resources beyond the expectations of employees, enabling them to better serve our residents and customers.

The Human Resources & Risk Management Office is responsible for all personnel related activities for the Village’s workforce. Primary areas of responsibility include recruitment and onboarding, staff development, performance management, employee and labor relations, employee retention, compensation and benefits, compliance and reporting, record management, inclusion and diversity and special projects.

The Office maintains general responsibility for the Village safety and risk management programs, related policies and oversees the Village’s General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Property, and other risk pool  insurance programs provided through the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA).

The Office also supports the Fire & Police Commission as it carries out the duties delegated by State of Illinois statutes, the Village of Brookfield Code and collective bargaining agreements in matters of sworn Fire and Police recruitment, testing, selection, promotion, appointment and disciplinary proceedings.
