Stormwater

The Village of Brookfield is considered an MS4 Community (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems) by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).  In 2003, the IEPA began requiring small MS4s in urbanized areas to obtain National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and implement six (6) minimum control measures.  More information about the NPDES General Storm Water Permit for Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems is located at Illinois EPA MS4 Information and Federal EPA NPDES Program Information.
