Village Completes First Bike Boulevard in Western Cook County

The Village is proud to announce that it has completed its very first project under its new Active Transportation Plan.  After adoption by the Village Board of Trustees in September 2017, the Village committed to a series of strategies for improving and enhancing biking and bike infrastructure in Brookfield.  At the top of the list was a “bike boulevard” along Arden, which was undergoing a repaving project.  The bike boulevard designation will give equal priority for bikes and automobiles to use a quiet stretch of Arden Avenue, and importantly, it will add better, safer bike connections to both the Hollywood and Downtown Metra stations.

The new Active Transportation Plan also outlines additional bike infrastructure improvements in 2018.  For example, the Village will be studying additional connections such as bike striping along Washington Boulevard, which if funded would improve bike safety for students utilizing Washington to connect to RBHS.
