Property Identification Enforcement (March 2009):
The Village has started an aggressive program to ensure residents are in compliance with safety ordinances that require the address of a property be clearly displayed from any alley and street. In most cases this will require the address be displayed on the garage as well as the house. Enforcement of this ordinance will start this week and progressively move by section across all of Brookfield.
Residents will receive a letter outlining the requirements and be given a 10 day time period for compliance. After that property owners will be subject to violation notices. Most house numbers can be purchased at any hardware store and come at a relatively low cost. Having the numbers on the house and garage assist the Public Safety departments.
If you have any questions about the regulations don't hesitate to contact the Building and Planning Department.
